The Atrial Fibrillation (AF) Centre comprises a team of dedicated healthcare professionals based at The London Bridge Hospital, who have international recognition in the field of research, diagnosis and treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF).
We specialise in treating complex cardiac arrhythmia problems and have an international reputation for catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation.
Our mission is to provide and develop the highest quality treatments for atrial fibrillation using first class modern technology in an environment that recognises patients needs and anxieties.
Where are we based?
The London AF centre is based at two sites. We have a unit at London Bridge Hospital for people being treated as private patients or as a private-public partnership. For people being treated as National Health Service (NHS) patients we are based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in the City of London.
The equipment used is first class in both hospitals and the treatment given is of exactly the same quality. The only advantage for private patients is the speed and flexibility with which they receive their treatment.
Why the Atrial Fibrillation Centre is different
A team approach
At the London AF Centre we believe in the importance of a team approach and the team is built around heart rhythm specialists who are both colleagues and friends. We share our experience, consult with each other and will often operate together. Patients are therefore never without help even if their own consultant is away for example on holiday.
Experts in the field
Our cardiologists have a vast experience between them practising and training in teaching hospitals before their appointments as consultant cardiologist to St Bartholomew’s Hospital, a prestigious London teaching hospital. Our cardiologists are all heart rhythm specialists or ‘electrophysiologists’ at The Barts Heart Centre, the largest cardiac centre in the UK with an arrhythmia department rivalling any in the world.
